The Chief Chairs of Malawi are famous in their
design and unparalleled in their beauty. They come in two sections for
easy transport: hut to hut, village to village, or straight to your
"hacienda". The seat section slides easily into the carved back
to form
a tri-legged base. The seat section is generally uncarved but the back
sections are beautifully carved with the artist's depiction of village
or animal scenes.
Malawi
is a land locked country with a huge fresh
water lake. Malawan life in and around the lake is a common theme in
many of
the Chief Chairs. The primary woods used to make the Chief Chairs are
Red or Black Mahogany, Euphorbia and Afrormosia.
